Following our monitoring on climate tech ventures, September was a good month for sustainable startups, as round-ups reached $5.1B across 151 deals and the investment capital went up by 70% compared with the previous month (Click to download August’s roundup report).
Both North America and Europe experienced a bump in the amount of capital invested, being the United States the country with the biggest increment by attracting $3.5B alone, possibly already starting to feel the push from the IRA. France and the United Kingdom climate tech startups follow behind with $512M and $264M respectively.
September’s climate tech funding rounds
The largest round is a massive $1B investment in Terawatt Infrastructure, a San Francisco-based company providing EV charging solutions.
Altogether, the EV sector attracted $1.8B, of which $1.5B in EV charging. Alternative proteins also keep momentum by raising $450M. Perhaps unexpectedly, CCUS comes next with $415M, as a consequence of the second largest round of the month raised by Texas-based Trace Midstream.
