- Swedfund provided a $20M loan to the Africa Go Green Fund, managed by Cygnum Capital, to finance businesses and projects focused on industrial energy efficiency, green buildings, clean transport, and green appliances.
- MassMutual Ventures launched its second climate technology fund at $150M, to invest in AI and climate technologies targeting energy infrastructure, real estate, and other real assets.
- Redstone raised $25M for its new Blue Fund, to invest in ocean technology and businesses focused on protecting and restoring ocean ecosystems.
- WovenEarth Ventures raised $155M for its second fund, to invest in early-stage cleantech companies across energy, industry, and resilience, including geothermal energy, battery storage, critical minerals, robotics, and orchestration software.
- Lotus Infrastructure Partners raised $1.8B across its fourth infrastructure fund, co-investments, and a continuation vehicle, to invest in clean energy infrastructure, including renewable power, battery storage, electric transmission, biofuels, and low-carbon fuels.
- Nuveen closed its fourth CPACE Lending Fund at over $1B, to finance energy-efficient, water-efficient, and climate-resilient upgrades for commercial buildings.
Top Climate Tech Funding Rounds
The past two weeks saw major funding flow into construction tech, fuels, fusion power plants, grid flexibility, and agritech.
🛥️ United States-based REGENT secured $240 million in total financing, comprising $120 million in Series B equity co-led by Mare Liberum and AE VENTURES, with participation from DCVC, Founders Fund, Caffeinated Capital, Lockheed Martin, Japan Airlines, SDF, and others, alongside $120 million in debt from Erebor Bank, to scale production of all-electric Seagliders that combine the speed of an aircraft with the accessibility of a boat.
🚢 United Kingdom-based CORE POWER raised $200 million in a Late VC round from Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Corporation, and Sumitomo Corporation to develop ship-based nuclear systems for emissions-free cargo propulsion and offshore power generation.
🤖 Switzerland-based Gravis Robotics raised $200M in a Series A round from SoftBank to expand into additional international markets and increase the number of autonomous construction machines operating commercially.
⚛️ Japan-based Kyoto Fusioneering secured $162 million in total financing, comprising $105 million in equity through the first close of its Series D from IMM Investment Corp., SiteGround, GX Acceleration Agency, Development Bank of Japan Inc., East Japan Railway Company (JR East), and others, alongside $57 million in credit and loan facilities from SMBC Group, Kyoto Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, and Mizuho, to demonstrate tritium fuel-cycle and breeding-blanket systems and scale the production of gyrotrons needed by fusion power plants.
🖥️ United States-based Emerald AI raised $150 million in a Series A round co-led by Energize Capital and DCVC, with participation from NVIDIA, Siemens, GE Vernova, and others, to scale software that turns AI data centres into flexible assets that adjust their electricity consumption in response to grid conditions.
💻 US-based Velaura AI raised $110M in a Series A round from Seligman Ventures, with participation from Capricorn Investment Group, Prosperity7 Ventures, Samsung Catalyst Fund, StepStone Group, and Maverick Silicon, to accelerate the development and commercialization of ultra-low-power AI compute infrastructure.
♨️ United States-based Quaise Energy secured an additional $46 million in the final close of its Series B, including a $35 million investment from Nabors Industries, to commercialize millimetre-wave drilling that vaporizes deep rock and unlocks superhot geothermal energy.
🐟 Germany-based Oceanloop secured up to $44M in financing from Hatch Blue’s Blue Revolution Fund and Stolt Ventures, which includes a $37M venture-debt facility from the European Investment Bank (EIB), to scale land-based Giant Grouper farming in Europe.
⛴️ New Zealand-based Vessev raised $19M in Series A and follow-on financing led by Blackbird, with participation from K1W1, Icehouse Ventures, Shasta Ventures, NZVC, GD1, and Rypples, to scale production of its VS–9 electric hydrofoil vessels and meet global demand.
✈️ US-based Ampaire closed a $19M Series B round led by DiamondStream Partners, with participation from Alaska Star Ventures and IAGi Ventures, to advance the commercialization, manufacturing, and certification of its hybrid-electric aviation technology.
