May ends on a positive note, with a 15% MoM increase in total climate tech funding over the last month, raising $5B across 251 deals. The overall funding levels still remain stagnant as experienced during the last quarter (Q1’23 report), but the positive growth in May is a good signal.
May’s climate tech funding deals round-up.
As almost always, the energy sector accumulated the most investment, raising a total of $3.4B during May 2023. The month recorded 12 deals of more than $100M, making the $100M+ deal size category account for a whooping $2.9B in funding. The United States leads investment in climate tech startups raising a total of $2.5B, followed by India and France. Europe in total, raised $1.2B in funding with transport being the most funded sector.
