As we progress further into 2023, February sees another moderate month in Climate tech funding, lower than most months in 2022. A total of $4.1B was raised across 122 deals in Climate tech in Europe and North America.
February’s climate tech funding round-up
Following the trend, the US leads with $2.8B in investments, accounting for two-thirds of all investment, followed by the United Kingdom and Canada. Interestingly, despite an 11% increase in total funding compared to last month, funding in Europe decreased by 40% while the US saw a 65% increase.
The challenge area where most investment were allocated was Energy, attracting a whopping $3B, followed by Circular Economy and Transport. The introduction of Circular Economy to the top is majorly due to the mega round of $2B raised by Redwood Materials.
While funding activity is consolidating, exit activity in the Climate tech space is heating up. 14 exits were recorded in the month of February alone, indicating a positive outlook for the Climate tech ecosystem.
